Why Three Leagues? Where Does My Child Play?

At its core, the purpose of Little League is to provide a safe, fun, wholesome combination of recreation and competition to players ages 4-18 through local league play.  To promote a fair playing environment and provide more opportunities for every child, Little League International limits each league’s size and forms league boundaries.  Additionally, Little League does not permit member leagues to segregate players based on perceived skill level.  Member leagues are instructed on team formation and player assignment guidelines that promote an equitable distribution of players.  The goal is to create balanced teams and fair competition.  Players have the opportunity to play in the same league (Juniors, Majors, AAA, etc.) as their friends who are similar age, whether their friends are experienced All-Star caliber players or beginners.  Little League has created an environment to provide the best possible baseball experience for ALL players.
